The L.A. Times says L.A. Galaxy midfielder David Beckham has reach a deal with his current team, the Galaxy, and A.C. Milan, for which he is currently on loan. Under the arrangement, Beckham will continue to play for the Italian club through its season, which ends May 31. Then he will return here and play for L.A. — 17 games into the Galaxy's 30-game season. When the Galaxy's season (regular or possible playoff) ends, Beckham will be free to rejoin Milan.
The Times says that the figures changing hands are unknown at the moment, but it is thought that the Galaxy will reap an enormous profit. A.C. Milan, though, will have Beckham's services in its bid to qualify for next year's European Champions League, while Beckham, by playing steadily in Europe, will have a shot at joining the England national team — which is gearing up for the 2010 World Cup.
