At the forefront of this vibrant musical movement stands a shiny golden figure: Arp Frique, a funk alchemist who blends the organic with the avant-garde, creating groovy soundscapes that resonate with promise nostalgia and innovation in equal measure. His project, Arp Frique & The Perpetual Singers, embodies this vision, delivering a unique fusion of P-funk and gospel-infused disco, which sounds exactly like you think it does: absolutely freaking amazing.

The ensemble features standout vocalists like the soulful Houston native Brandon Delagraentiss and Rocq-E Harrell, a seasoned performer known for her work with legends such as Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross. Together, they elevate the funk innovation, infusing it with a dynamic energy that is hard to resist.

Set to launch this next Friday under the COLORFUL WORLD / Rush Hour, “The Gospel of Jesamy” promises to showcase the band’s evolving artistry and commitment to pushing musical boundaries with a gospelized funk tour inspired through and through by the birth of the titular Jesamy who is none other than Arp Frique’s own daughter. The seven-track extravaganza feels tight and polished, yet it undeniably possesses a rebellious dynamic reminiscent of something out of The Blues Brothers. I wouldn’t have it any other way, as the album playfully and lovingly pays homage to the history and cultural significance of every sound it incorporates. It’s a real treat.

The group has also made a mark through electrifying live performances across Asia, including notable sessions at KEXP and Red Bull Music, captivating audiences with their infectious energy and stage presence.
