Three Hospitalized after Head-On DUI Collision near Paseo de Valencia

LAGUNA HILLS, CA (March 20, 2022)Alexya Garcia, and Nathalie Berrelleza were hurt Wednesday night, and William Martensen was arrested after a DUI collision on Los Alisos Boulevard.

Police were called to the scene near Paseo De Valencia and Laguna Hills High School at approximately 6:00 p.m. Following reports, it was determined that a drunk driver lost control, striking the center median before colliding head-on with another vehicle.

The collision resulted in injuries to 15-year-old Alexya Garcia, 16-year-old Nathalie Berrelleza, and her mother, who were returning from a water polo game.

Emergency responders transported the injured occupants to a nearby hospital for treatment of severe injuries. Law enforcement also detained the suspect, identified as 39-year-old William Martensen, on charges of felony DUI. Records reveal Martensen had previously pleaded guilty to four DUI incidents dating back to 2007.

The family of Garcia started a GoFundMe page to help Alexya as well as the two other victims.
