26-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Accident near Vanowen Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (February 1, 2024) Alejandro Lopez Munoz died early Wednesday morning in a speeding collision on Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

The incident occurred at the 6800 block of North Topanga Canyon Boulevard around 1:00 a.m., near Vanowen Street.

According to reports, a black Mercedes-Benz and a Toyota Camry were engaged in a race in the southbound lanes. Subsequently, the Mercedes collided with the rear of the Camry, causing the Camry driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Despite efforts by medics to save him, the Toyota driver, identified as 26-year-old Munoz from Northridge, was later pronounced dead. The Mercedes driver fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The city is now offering a reward of up to $50,000 to anyone providing information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Those who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run are urged to contact Officer Michael Sison at 818-644-8022 or Officer Freeman at 818-644-8115.
