Growing up in India, Ashana Sule watched Hannah Montana and High School Musical with her two best friends and dreamed of going to California. They would often take screenshots of places they wanted to visit on Google Maps and imagine a future far away. What seemed like a dream out of reach eventually became Sule’s reality.
“I honestly think we manifested it because one of my friends ended up moving to California, and so did I for college,” says Sule.
Moving to New York and becoming a digital content creator and lifestyle influencer with 275K subscribers on YouTube wasn’t part of her plans, but life unexpectedly led her in that direction.
Healing Through Vlogging
It was during Sule’s senior year of high school that she experienced a difficult period marked by personal and mental health challenges. That period intensified during her early college years, as she navigated major life transitions, isolation, and cultural change. Feeling increasingly disconnected and overwhelmed, she ultimately chose to return home to focus on healing, stability, and rebuilding her sense of self.
“I ended up attending a year of film school there. Being back home was so healing for me; I finally felt productive again,” Sule says.
After recovering, Sule completed her degree in the United States and returned to India, where she spent two years producing YouTube videos. Though she loved the community that grew around her channel, she wasn’t sure it was a financially feasible career. Disheartened and demotivated, she not only stopped posting on YouTube but also pulled away from everyone in her life.
It was her father who encouraged her to find a way forward, in whatever way worked for her. Sule decided to apply to New York University, believing that if she were accepted into a master’s program, it would be her way forward.
“The minute I stepped into New York, I fell in love. For the first time, I truly felt independent and excited about creating my own life. Being in New York reignited my passion for YouTube. Suddenly, I had so many new things to talk about, and I wanted to share my journey again,” says Sule.

Building a Community, Growing Personally, and Inspiring Others
Inspired to share her experiences, Sule began documenting both the challenges and highlights of life in New York City. What started as a way to express herself gradually became a space to reflect on personal growth and everyday moments in a way that resonated beyond geography. Her work reflects a broader shift toward slower, more intentional digital storytelling in a space often driven by virality. Soon, vlogging became much more than a hobby.
“I genuinely love storytelling through my videos and connecting with people. YouTube felt like the perfect platform to express myself creatively; whether it was sharing my everyday life, talking about personal growth, or showcasing my love for beauty and wellness,” Sule says.
Sule overcame self-doubt and feelings of vulnerability by focusing on what made her happy. She built a real community that inspired others and helped her grow personally. To her, the subscribers to her channel are much more than numbers. They’re people who inspire her to keep being a content creator, making her feel supported and uplifted. Even when she took a break to address her health issues, they were understanding. Her followers are why she received a YouTube Silver Play Button for her channel.
Looking to the Future
Sule’s vision for the future is to become a full-time content creator on YouTube and Instagram and potentially launch her own brand one day.
“I love being able to create videos that feel relatable, comforting, and inspiring for others, and that’s what continues to drive me every day. It’s about sharing my experiences authentically and hopefully making someone’s day a little better through my content,” says Sule.
