A Florida state senator is in hot water after his Instagram follower list was revealed to include dozens of OnlyFans models, as well as many gambling accounts and accounts that offer tips on male grooming, confidence and dating. This may not be shocking except that Joe Gruters, the proud GOP official, is also a married father of 3.

The 47-year-old’s private Instagram account was shown to follow at least 60 OnlyFans model profiles showing women in skimpy clothing and swimsuits, in addition to the other accounts offering advice on areas the senator seemed to be interested in.

This is the same Instagram account that the GOP senator often uses to post photos of his wife, Sydney, as well as their three young children, two sons and one daughter. He shared a heartwarming photo of that family on Thanksgiving last year, all five of them wearing medals after seeming to complete “Family Turkey Trot run!” according to the caption of the photo.

The embattled senator admitted to following the “questionable” accounts. He was quick to insist that while he may follow the accounts, he does not “personally know everyone I follow or who follows me.”

Gruters added: “I typically engage accounts that are recommended or interact with my account. That said, I will review my follows and remove any content that may be considered questionable.”

His follows added up to 6,477 at the time his account was reviewed, while he only had 3,871 followers. Gruters should know who was following him in addition to who he followed, as anyone with a private profile like him must approve every single follower for that account to be able to view his account.

And that’s a lot of follows to review. When the review of his account was done, it was noted that he followed 6,477 accounts. His profile had 3,781 followers, and since he had a private profile, every follower had to be approved by Gruter or his team to be able to view his posts.

Gruter is currently the state senator for the 22nd district of Florida. The district includes Sarasota and the areas south of that on the gulf coast and the senator claims on his Instagram account to have been endorsed by President Donald Trump five times and an Electoral College voter three times. He also served as a chair for Trump’s Florida campaigns in both the 2016 and 2020. But he publicly broke from his party recently on several fronts, particularly against Governor Ron DeSantis’ agenda on topics like pushing more lax marijuana-related laws.

Perhaps the senator’s calm in the face of the recent scandal is due to his previous experience. Gruter was investigated by the Republican Party of Florida back in 2021. Gruters was charimain of the party at the time when a third-party claim of sexual harassment of a legislative staffer was reported after the senator was driven home following a night out at a bar in Tallahassee.

The allegations ultimately led to nothing when no accuser with firsthand knowledge of the alleged incident was willing to come forward. Gruters denied knowing about the claims against him or the investigation itself.
