Despite the assumption that OnlyFans content is all pornographic, you may be surprised to see some familiar names on the platform. Or more specifically, some familiar faces.

It’s not uncommon for acting roles to dry up from time to time, and now those actors and actresses have more opportunities to create income outside the traditional methods. OnlyFans provides just such an opportunity, even for those who don’t want to create adult content.

That’s what drew Drea de Matteo to the platform in August 2023. The actress was best known for her role on The Sopranos, HBO’s legendary series, but despite landing a few roles here and there, the actress was struggling to get by. That’s when she decided to join OnlyFans and set a subscription price of $15 a month.

In an interview, de Matteo spoke about the decision. “I signed up [for] that OnlyFans thing, and I thought, wow, I didn’t think it was gonna work, but I didn’t think anybody would care. I didn’t think anybody would care. I’m, you know, Adriana from The Sopranos from 100 years ago.”

She also revealed that she was days away from her house being foreclosed on when things rapidly changed thanks to her new source of income. But unlike many who join the platform, de Matteo swore that she would keep her clothes on. And so far, she has.

When asked what people ask her to do for them on OnlyFans, she said, “They don’t really ask me to do crazy things. Because they know it’s me. You know, so I’m talking to their friends, ‘Can you make me a video for this person, for that person?’ And then there’s some guys that want some intense foot stuff.”

Another actress-turned-OnlyFans creator recently joined the platform for a similar reason. While Jessie Cave’s situation may not have been quite as dire, the actress best known for her role as Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter movies joined so she could get herself out of debt.

And like de Matteo, she assures the public that her account will be closer to PG-13, sharing non-sexual hair-focused content with a “slutty Mormon” vibe. In a podcast interview, Cave revealed, “It’s very much geared toward people who have an interest or fetish with hair. I do a lot of videos with my hair on Instagram and I have now for a while. I just noticed that I always get comments. They’re never sexually depraved or lascivious. It’s never dirty comments, but I do get lots of interest in the hair thing and I just thought, ‘F–k it, I’m going to do something that is very niche.’”

Cave’s decision to join the platform came after she learned of other celebrities like de Matteo, Lily Allen, and Kate Nash who joined OnlyFans before her. As Cave learned more about it, she realized all the opportunities that the platform could offer.

Even if she prefers to keep her clothes on as she creates content for her subscribers.
