Hit-and-Run Crash near Southern Avenue Left a Motorcyclist Dead

PHOENIX, AZ (November 2, 2022) – Sunday night, a hit-and-run near 7th Street claimed the life of one person.

The incident happened on October 30th, at around 7:00 p.m., involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.

According to the police, the motorcyclist was riding in the area when, for reasons currently under investigation, they collided with another vehicle. The involved driver then fled the area without rendering aid to the injured rider.

When emergency crews arrived they found the rider dead at the scene. At this time, the rider has not yet been identified.

Meanwhile, police stated that the driver of the involved vehicle then called authorities from home, where they later detained him.

Following the collision, officials closed down the areas of the road surrounding the crash to perform cleanup and preliminary duties.

Police are currently working with the public to determine the cause of the crash. No other details have been released and an active investigation is underway.
