One Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near 5th Street Off-Ramp

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (March 28, 2024) – One victim died early Monday morning in a pedestrian accident on westbound Highway 80. The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 a.m., near 5th Street.

Authorities report that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near the intersection, after which the driver promptly fled. Emergency responders arrived shortly thereafter, and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed by authorities.

Law enforcement officers state that the driver failed to offer assistance and fled the scene. Consequently, all westbound lanes of Highway 80 were shut down, redirecting traffic onto 5th Street for several hours.

San Francisco police urge anyone who witnessed the pedestrian accident on Highway 80 to promptly reach out to their offices.
