Vehicle Accident on South Oroville Left One Fatality

OROVILLE, CA (February 26, 2024) – Saturday morning, a solo crash on Kusel Road left Dakotah OReily and Richard Overturf injured.

The crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Kusel Road, prompting a swift response from emergency crews.

Officials reported discovering a deceased woman inside the vehicle involved in the collision.

According to the preliminary investigation, both the driver, Dakotah OReily, and another occupant fled the scene following the fatal incident. Dakotah OReily sustained a broken wrist along with cuts and bruises to the face, while the passenger, identified as Richard Overturf, suffered cuts and bruises.

At this point, the authorities have not disclosed the identity of the deceased passenger who lost their life in the crash.

Dakotah OReily was arrested for vehicular manslaughter and for fleeing the scene of a fatal accident.

There were no road closures or traffic control due to the crash, CHP said. An active investigation is underway.
