Two Pronounced Dead after 18-Wheeler Accident near Highway 317

TEMPLE, TX (May 6, 2024)Abigail Boatwright and Evan Boatwright died Tuesday morning in an oversized load truck-collision on State Highway 36. The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m., just west of Highway 317 on April 30th. Upon reaching the scene, multiple agencies found that an enormous cargo weighing approximately 350,000 pounds had detached from the trailer of an 18-wheeler truck. First responders discovered a car trapped beneath the trailer carrying the oversized load. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, 17-year-old Evan and 22-year-old Abigail were pronounced dead on site. Additionally, another individual from the vehicle sustained critical injuries. Emergency crews worked for over four hours to safely extricate the trapped driver. An ongoing investigation is underway to gather more information about the incident.
