Man Pronounced Dead after Electric Scooter Vs Car Collision near Shaw Street

LONG BEACH, CA (May 8, 2024) – One man was killed early Saturday afternoon, in an electric- scooter crash on Ximeno Avenue and Shaw Street. Police officers responded to the scene around 6:27 a.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

According to the investigation, a man riding an electric scooter was struck by the driver of a southbound Ford C-Max. Reports indicate that the man went through a stop sign before colliding with the vehicle.

Emergency responders transported the injured scooter rider to a nearby hospital, where he passed away due to his injuries. The female driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation.

Preliminary assessments by authorities suggest that drugs or alcohol were not contributing factors to the accident. Currently, the identity of the deceased rider is being withheld until his next of kin is notified.
