24-Year-Old Man Arrested after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Camarillo Springs Road

CAMARILLO, CA (May 6, 2024)Luis Cardoso was arrested early Sunday, and multiple were hurt in a DUI collision on northbound 101 Freeway.

The 11-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m., near Camarillo Springs Road.

According to reports, the driver of a 2008 Honda Civic traveling south swerved into the northbound lanes. Consequently, the Honda collided head-on with several vehicles approaching from the opposite direction.

Crews located the Honda with extensive front-end damage. Emergency responders worked to extract the trapped driver from the Honda.

Following preliminary duties, law enforcement apprehended the wrong-way driver, identified as 24-year-old Luis Ocampo Cardoso from Santa Barbara, on charges of felony DUI.

Authorities in Camarillo took the precaution of closing the northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway for a minimum of two hours to facilitate the clearing of the accident site.
