31-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Head-On Metro Bus Crash near Cactus Road

PHOENIX, AZ (May 5, 2024)Melody Stewart died Monday morning, in a head-on crash on 19th Avenue near Larkspur Drive.

Investigators determined that Stewart, 31, was driving north on 19th Avenue when her vehicle collided with a curb near Larkspur Drive.

Stewart’s vehicle was then pushed into the path of a southbound metro-bus on 19th Avenue, resulting in a fatal head-on collision. Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

In the aftermath, three bus passengers sustained minor injuries. Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area during clearing operations.

All lanes have since been reopened, and Phoenix police are actively investigating the matter.
