Motorcycle Collision near Rosecrans Street Left One Dead, One Seriously Injured

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 3, 2024) – One man died Saturday afternoon, in a motorcycle collision on Interstate 8. First responders arrived to the eastbound lanes of I-8 just west of Rosecrans Street around 3:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found that a black Yamaha motorcycle had collided with a Ford F-150 pickup truck from behind. Investigators determined that heavy traffic had caused the pickup truck to come to a halt on the road.

Additionally, reports indicated that the motorcyclist had been weaving through lanes at an unknown speed. The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

Paramedics quickly transported his 19-year-old female passenger to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Meanwhile, the 59-year-old man from Murrieta, who was driving the pickup truck, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet disclosed the identity of the deceased victim. Further information will be provided once it becomes available.
