Driver Arrested after Deadly Pedestrian Crash in San Leandro

SAN LEANDRO, CA (January 11, 2024) – Early Monday morning, a hit-and-run crash on Lewelling Boulevard claimed the life of a female pedestrian. Police attended the fatal collision shortly after midnight at the 600 block of Lewelling Blvd. Upon reaching the scene, officers found the woman lying in the roadway with substantial injuries. Despite the initial responders’ life-saving efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. As of now, the identity of the deceased woman is withheld from the public, awaiting notification of the next of kin. Following the crash, authorities discovered the suspect’s vehicle resenting in a nearby business parking lot. Eventually, the officers arrested the unidentified driver for suspected DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and felony DUI. No further details regarding the Lewelling Boulevard hit-and-run have been released. San Leandro Officials will provide more information once available.
