Deadly Hit-and-Run near Walgreens Leads to Arrest of 62-Year-Old Man

SEASIDE, CA (January 18, 2023) – Police arrested William Hopkins following a fatal hit-and-run crash on Canyon Del Rey Boulevard.

Unfortunately, the female victim, believed to be a homeless person, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. However, her identity remains undisclosed to the public.

Initially, authorities detained 50-year-old Sara Mazzia after the incident occurred. After some time, 62-year-old William Hopkins eventually confessed to being the one driving the blue Audi and hitting the woman pushing a shopping cart.

In the end, authorities booked Hopkins in Monterey County Jail for felony hit-and-run causing death, violation of parole, and several other charges. His bail was set at $50,000.

No further details regarding the Canyon Del Rey Boulevard hit-and-run have been released to the public. Seaside Officials will provide more information once available.
