Local slide collector/presenter/master showman Charles Phoenix honors Edith Heath's artistic legacy on Thursday, August 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heath Ceramics and housewares Beverly Blvd. showroom with a special grilled cheese patio party. Heath started manufacturing ceramic products in Sausalito fifty years ago, and the company has continued its work following Heath's death in 2005 at the age of 94.

Phoenix explains the sandwiches “will be cooked on an ironing board with a iron. There is no connection between Heath and grilled cheeses…just seemed like a fun and easy way to reflect the classic California casual style of the ceramics.” Handcrafted clay goods and iron-pressed sandwiches? Sure, why not? With Phoenix in the mix, there's never a dull moment. The event is free, but RSVP is required (323-965-0800).
