The First Annual Funk Rumble Block Party — the name has a great ring to it, like something explosive might happen. The organizers promise the event to be “half music festival, half block party” — which translates to live music, DJs, food and live painting, all in the spirit of people gathered on asphalt that's closed off to cars. Performers include Breakestra, the Lions, Orgone and J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science, hosted by KCRW's Jeremy Sole. The only thing missing is a mini film fest. Oh, wait — there's also a mini film fest.
