You know you've been to more than a few of these events over the years when the first thing you see is “Presented by Insomniac Events” and you immediately think, “Whatever happened to DJPC?” But just because it's the lucky number in the venerable series of Electric Daisy Carnivals, doesn't mean they're wallowing in the ecstasy-drenched mud of nostalgia. Paul van Dyk and the Crystal Method appear to support their latest works, Volume and Divided by Night , respectively. Also hotly tipped: French decksman David Guetta, named DJ Mag 's Best House DJ, Dutch house DJ Fedde le Grand, and Infected Mushroom (seriously — how would you know it's infected?), premiering new material. As if that weren't enough, there are full-sized carnival rides, I&I Sound's ice-truck sound system, fire dancers and people on stilts. Techno, house, turntablism, trance — the only dance you won't see here is the tap dance you turned into your crusade.
