Those who ever had doubts about some of the sources of Los Angeles' booming medical marijuana industry can take a clue from this: Federal authorities over the weekend broke up a pot ring that was alleged to have sold millions of dollars worth of cannabis to Southern California dispensaries.

The leader of the ring was alleged to be Joshua John Hester, a West Hollywood resident and dispensary owner who was arrested at his home, according to Associated Press.

Eleven others were also behind bars. Arrest warrants were served in L.A and San Diego counties according to the report.

Hester's two dispensaries and 12 others had been raided last summer as part of the operation. In one case agents stated that they found two secret grow rooms behind a bookshelf.

The defendants were scheduled to appear before a federal judge this week.
