Either the U.K. version of The Taste, the cooking competition show starring Nigella Lawson, Anthony Bourdain and our own Ludo Lefebvre, is way better than the U.S. version, or it just has a better marketing department.

The new promo for the U.K. version's second season — which starts in Britain on Jan. 7 — shows dramatic, emotional closeups of the judges' faces, in ecstasy (mainly Nigella) and agony (mainly Bourdain). It's nothing like the flashing-lights, panning-camera, lame soundstage ads we get for The Taste here. If you look very closely, you can even see Ludo shed a single tear. Watch after the jump.
