The most conspicuous absence at the Academy Awards show Sunday night was that of the image of late actress Farrah Fawcett, who died last summer on the same day Michael Jackson met his early demise.

The Memoriam segment of the program paid tribute to Hollywood actors and even some not-so-serious thespians such as … Michael Jackson. But Fawcett was neither seen nor heard and, according to !E Online, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences plans no mea culpa for the omission.

“In any given year there will always be some people that other people think should have been included and that there's more justification for one person versus another,” Academy spokeswoman Leslie Unger, spokeswoman told the site. “It is impossible to include everybody.”

The Memoriam segment included nods to Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, Jean Simmons and Karl Malden. Fawcett companion Ryan O'Neal, speaking to E! through publicist Arnold Robinson, was not happy: “We were disappointed that she was not included.”
