As we usher in the first day of fall this week, it’s time to get mulling and fill the house with the aromas of cinnamon, cloves and apple cider. Chef Megan Mitchell, whose Grilling For Beginners is currently streaming on the Magnolia Network, shared her thirst-quenching recipes to watch the leaves fall by.

Mulled Sweet Tea

Makes 4-5 drinks

4-5 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

2 star anise

2 medium oranges, sliced into rounds (divided)

18.5 ounce bottle Pure Leaf Sweet Tea

16 ounces apple cider

In a medium saucepan combine the cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, 1 orange cut into rounds, Pure Leaf Sweet Tea and apple cider. Bring up to heat on medium and then simmer on low for 15 minutes.

Strain into mugs or glasses with handles and serve warm with the extra orange rounds and a cinnamon stick for stirring.

Cranberry Tea Gimlet

Makes 1

1.5 ounces vodka

1 ounce cranberry juice

1 ounce Pure Leaf Sweet Tea

1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

.5 ounce maple syrup

Coarse sugar, for rimming the glass

3 cranberries

To a cocktail shaker add the vodka, cranberry juice, Pure Leaf Sweet Tea, lime juice, maple syrup and 1/4 cup ice. Shake for 20 seconds.

Dip the rim of a coup or martini glass into water then into the sugar crystals. Skewer 3 cranberries onto a cocktail toothpick.

Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass and garnish with the cranberries. Serve immediately.
