Dennis RomeroThe Venice zip line sounded like another pipe dream from City Hall. But it's for real.
The operator, Flightlinez, opened up the attraction at 11 a.m. today. A second phase of development that includes local artwork will start tomorrow, the company says:
Artwork will surround the k-rails near each tower and bring a more pleasing visual to the whole display.
A third phase starting Aug. 10 will include “community performance” including local children showing off their zip-line skills, according to the company.
But what you really want to know is how you can get your air time. Here's the info:

The zip line is open 11 to sunset daily. Cost is $20, $18 for “locals” and transit users with proof. There will be free shuttles from beach lots 7, 8 and 9.
You must weigh between 60 and 250 pounds to do this. Get your tickets at 1601 Ocean Front Walk, near the zip line platform. More info is here.
