Update: 7/25, 2:30 p.m. A few more people will be cooking your pancake breakfast next month. Specifically, Salt's Cure, 101 Noodle Express and Glowfish Truck. Which should help answer some pressing questions about bacon. The issue of coffee is also coming into focus, so to speak, as Zona Rosa Caffe and LA Mill have also been added to the list. Welcome news, both for early risers and those of you for whom 11 o'clock on a Sunday morning is pretty much dawn. Pom will be taking care of juice, and Don Q Rum will be serving brunch cocktails. So both caffeine and booze with your pancakes. Cheers.

Update: 7/20, 4:13 p.m. If you have kids, you may not feel like shelling out a lot for them to eat three bites from a big plate of pancakes, no matter who has made them and even if you end up eating the rest of it. We can commiserate. A lot. Therefore we can happily report that kids 3-10 will be getting into this event for $10, and that kids 3 and under will be free. So give your toddler a plate of the finest.

If you missed your customary enormous breakfast while waiting in line during the most recent Gold Standard and secretly wished that someone could have combined the two (your actual breakfast, Jonathan Gold's idea of food), your wish has been granted. Well, sort of. On Sunday, August 28th, this estimable publication has decided to have our First Annual Pancake Breakfast. First of perhaps many, given that annual part. Depends on how much you like pancakes. This time, Jonathan Gold has picked 20 of the city's best pancakes. So who's coming?

As of now, confirmed restaurants include: Kobawoo House, Square One, BLD, FIG, Quan Mien Trung, Xoia, DuPar's, Marston's, Warszawa, Tiara, Playa, Mayura Restaurant, Original Pancake House, Dinah's Family Restaurant, Meals by Genet and Nickel Diner. Yes, there will be coffee. More on that later.

The event will take place at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles. Which seems only fitting, if you think about it, as what better place to have a Sunday breakfast than in a church? Bring the Sunday paper. Maybe there will even be some preseason NFL games to go home to. LA Weekly's Pancake Breakfast at Vibiana opens to ticket holders on Sunday, August 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $25; tickets are available starting Thursday, July 21 only at laweekly.com/pancakebreakfast. No tickets will be sold at the door.
