Update: Dominick's reopens today, Monday, November 22nd. In celebration of the reopening, the restaurant will host a “Sunday Supper” this Wednesday, November 24, boasting the familiar deals: $15 for three courses, $12 bottles of wine and $3 Morettis.

Dominick's, the original Rat Pack hangout, open on Beverly Boulevard across from the Beverly Center since 1948, closed temporarily on Monday, November 8th. The restaurant, which suffered “damage caused by a small kitchen fire,” according to its website, will reopen on November 15th. “If the fire department hadn't been called it could have started a huge fire and taken out the entire block,” said a hostess at Dominick's. “The fire wasn't technically a fire: smoke from the grill was seeping through a crack in the protective wall in the kitchen and heating up the wall in between Doms and the antique store,” she wrote in an email. The owners are rebuilding that wall and are pulling permits until their reinspection by the health department.
Owners Warner Ebbink and Brandon Boudet, who also run Little Dom's and The 101 Coffee Shop, extensively renovated the restaurant in 2004, re-creating its original design of white tiled floors, dark-wood accents and red booths, but with a modern twist. The restaurant is currently undergoing further renovations, and their fifteen-dollar Sunday night suppers and plates of spaghetti and meatballs will be returning shortly, we hope.
