UCLA police today released a sketch of a suspect wanted for a Jan. 7 attempted sexual assault on campus.

The attempt happened early the same morning as a robbery near school but the crimes did not appear to be related.

According to cops …

… the man approached a female student at 1:15 a.m. that morning and grabbed and threatened her before she broke free and he fled.

It happened on a walkway between Parking Structure 9 and the Engineering 4 building as the victim was headed eastbound, cops said. The man had emerged from the parking structure before approaching the woman, they said.

According to a UCLA statement today, this describes the guy they're looking for:

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Caucasian male with short dark hair, approximately 30 to 35 years old, 5'10″ to 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He is reported to have been wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Nearly a year ago the campus saw a few similar incidents, but witnesses never seemed to describe the same guy.

In any case, if you might know who this is, UCLA police would love to hear from you: 310-825-9371.
