Bad month for Uber drivers.

First, one was shot in Venice. He was possibly the victim of gang crossfire. And this week an Uber driver was robbed in a bustling part of Hermosa Beach.

Cops say it happened about 1:20 a.m. yesterday in a Vons parking lot at 710 Pier Ave. when a driver was outside his car using his smartphone and was approached by a suspect.

“The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded money and his smartphone,” said Sgt. Robert Higgins of the Hermosa Beach Police Department. “The victim complied, after which the suspect entered a nearby car and fled the area.”

The Uber guy was brave: He followed that car, which carried two other suspects, to Lawndale, where he flagged down a Los Angeles Sheriff's deputy, police said.

“The suspect vehicle was stopped and the suspects were arrested,” Higgins said. “A replica handgun and the victim’s property was recovered from the suspect’s vehicle.”

The suspects were ID'd as 19-year-old Anthony Mateo, 19-year-old Alexis Stewart and 18-year-old Dwaun Jennings, all of Los Angeles, and all jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
