Protesting members from one of showman Earl Carroll's “Vanities” musical extravaganzas parade past Musician's Union Local 47's old headquarters. The Earl Carroll Theater on Sunset Boulevard presented classy risque dance productions performed by scantily clad women who were billed as “The Most Beautiful Girls in the World.” In the 1938 dispute, Carroll complained the union was forcing his theater-restaurant to use a larger orchestra than was necessary.
