Hit-and-Run Driver Struck and Left One Teenager Injured near Santan Freeway

GILBERT, AZ (June 19, 2023) – Wednesday night, police responded to a hit-and-run crash at Higley Road that injured a teenager.

It happened shortly after 6:00 p.m., June 14th, in the westbound lanes of Loop 202 Santan Freeway, near milepost 39.

According to the Arizona DPS, they arrived at the scene and found a man lying on the highway with injuries.

Upon investigation, the officers believed that the man was a passenger of a moving vehicle that tried to get out.

As a result, he was struck by another vehicle that did not stop and drove away. No information is available on the vehicle he was in.

Furthermore, the man was only identified as a teenager. He suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.

Meanwhile, the traffic in the area was affected and the deputies blocked the westbound lanes. It was later reopened early on Thursday morning.

Further investigation is being handled by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
