Cops say a 38-year-old undocumented worker installing DirecTV systems took a $2,500 English bulldog puppy from a customer's home in Victorville.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department today announced the arrest of Eduardo Robles on suspicion of grand theft. He's also a felon who had previously been deported, deputies say:
According to allegations laid out in a statement from the San Bernardino department, Robles, working as a subcontractor, installed a DirecTV system in the victims' home on Hollybrook Lane in Victorville on March 8.
Cops say he returned to take the pup, and that the action was caught on security video:
Later the same day, a surveillance camera captured Robles returning to the customer's residence and using a ladder to dismantle a latch on the customer's backyard gate. The surveillance footage showed Robles enter the customer's back yard and exit a
short time later carrying the customer's English Bulldog puppy in his arms.
Robles, who deputies allege used a “false name,” Wence Benitez Gonzalez, was being held “pending confirmation of his immigration status,” according to the San Bernardino statement.
The puppy was returned to its owners.
