43-Year-Old Rider Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Collision near Signal Butte Road

MESA, AZ (January 11, 2023)Steven Ferguson Jr. died early Saturday in a DUI motorcycle collision on University Drive and Signal Butte Road. Around 5:30 a.m., police responded to the scene on December 23rd.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding a collision between a vehicle and a motorcyclist in the area. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered the motorcyclist in cardiac arrest. Due to the severity of the situation, medics declared 43-year-old Ferguson Jr. deceased at the scene.

On Sunday, law enforcement took into custody the 22-year-old driver of the vehicle, identified as Abdiel Vazquez Vasquez. Vasquez faces charges of reckless manslaughter, DUI, and aggravated DUI related to wrong-way driving. The ongoing investigation is actively being pursued by authorities.
