A Sheriff’s deputy was charged with unlawfully assaulting a woman in 2021 and then allegedly falsifying the report.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office announced the two felony assault charges on Wednesday, calling deputy Konrad Thieme’s actions an abuse of power.

“Police accountability is an essential component of a fair and just criminal legal system,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Our office will not tolerate abuses of power that result in criminal acts by law enforcement officers who are sworn to protect our community.”

The incident allegedly occurred on April 10, 2021 when Thieme and two other deputies responded to a call of a disturbance in Chatsworth.

That is where Thieme allegedly assaulted an unarmed 32-year-old woman named Sarah Jafari.

Thieme was allegedly caught falsifying the report through his body-worn camera.

Jafari filed a lawsuit against both Los Angeles County and the deputy, claiming that he had  “deprived” her of her civil rights.

The incident is still under investigation by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
