In Buddhism, “Detachment” refers to a state of being “Unstained” by thoughts, a state of separation from one’s own mind. It involves freeing oneself from the constraints of personal opinions, leading to mental and emotional freedom. Ruochun Ding believes that by detaching ourselves from our preconceived notions, we can avoid mental and emotional harm.
The designer’s vision comes to life through the meticulous selection of neutral colors and delicate fabrics, including luxurious Italian silk. With each piece, Ding aims to highlight the true value of garment craftsmanship while enabling customers to experience a sense of detachment from their burdens and limitations.
Ruochun Ding’s journey into the world of fashion began at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2017, where she initially pursued fine art. However, she soon discovered her true passion lay within the realm of fashion design, prompting her transfer to the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2018. In 2022, Ding successfully graduated from the institute, equipped with the skills and knowledge to bring her creative vision to life.
To further refine her craft and explore various career opportunities, Ding works as both a freelance and contract designer for several renowned brands in New York City. This valuable experience enables her to gain insight into different facets of the industry while honing her skills and discovering her niche.
Currently, Ruochun Ding is an integral part of the development team at WARDROBE.NYC, a highly regarded fashion brand. With a clear focus on building her career at this prestigious company, Ding aims to contribute her unique perspective and innovative ideas to the brand’s future endeavors.
