Downtown Los Angeles has one less British pub to kick around. Less than a week before Christmas, the five-year-old Royal Clayton's, located across the street from Church & State, has shut its doors.

Their farewell Tweet offers some consolation: a promise to relocate.

To all our Loyal Patrons we want to thank you for 5 glorious years on Industrial Street. Royal Clayton's is reloc [sic]

We first wandered into Royal Clayton's after attending a nearby funeral and, knowing nothing of the place, were convinced to enter the trivia contest, which somehow, in combination with the ambiance and the mac 'n cheese, lifted our daze of sadness long enough for us to win in second place, earning a $50 gift certificate that more than paid for several rounds of Pimm's Cups and Scotch Bonnet wings. R.I.P., R.C.

More details to come on the closure and potential relocation.
