And… here we go again: now the Anti-Defamation League is upset about supposedly anti-semitic messages in Roger Waters' current The Wall stage-show.
Here's the problem with Roger Waters: he's always trying to make A POINT. Big capital letters: A POINT.
Here's the reality: He's a bass player who wrote some very popular songs, made a lot of money back when the recording industry was giving out money like candy, and he can fill stadia with nostalgic baby boomers willing to pay pretty dearly for tickets.
But he's not happy with the way life's turned out for him. He wants to be… a philosopher? … some kind of prophet? … a life-changing political poet? Who knows. It's not very clear what he wants to be.
And so Roger ends up making all these confusing statements that are “misread” by everyone else.
A few months ago, we exposed his bone-headed attempt at LA “street-art” when he had his New York publicist hire a bunch of people to paste Dwight Eisenhower quotes all over Silver Lake, most famously over the Elliott Smith Memorial Wall.
And now he decided that it would be a great idea to “to illuminate our condition, and find new ways to encourage peace and understanding, particularly in the Middle East” (no, we're not making this up–he said that) by having an animation of CARTOON PLANES DROPPING STARS OF DAVID AS BOMBS AND THEN DROPPING DOLLAR SIGNS.

Yup, he went there. To illuminate our condition.
