1 Killed, 1 Injured in Pedestrian Accident near Barrow-White Road

ANAHAUC, TX (February 15, 2024) Rene Mentillo died and Kelly Mentillo was airlifted Monday afternoon, after a pedestrian collision on State Highway 61. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., near Barrow-White Road.

Two women were jogging along the road when they were hit by the driver of a white or silver Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra, who subsequently fled the scene without notifying authorities. Due to the severity of the injuries, Rene, aged 61, was declared dead at the scene by medics.

Meanwhile, paramedics airlifted Kelly, aged 56, to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. A thorough investigation is currently underway, and witnesses are encouraged to contact the police with any information.
