Renowned Hollywood producer Randall Emmett is teaming up with legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese to bring Wall of White to the big screen. The film, a narrative adaptation of Jared Drake and Steven Sig’s gripping documentary, is based on Jennifer Woodlief’s bestselling book. It will be fully financed and produced by Convergence Entertainment, the production company Emmett co-founded with Joel Cohen in 2022.

The project, currently seeking a director, is slated to begin production in late 2025.

A Tragic Tale of Survival and Heroism

Wall of White recounts the harrowing events of March 31, 1982, when a devastating avalanche buried the Alpine Meadows ski resort in California. The disaster claimed the lives of seven people, but one survivor, Anna Conrad, miraculously endured being buried alive for five days before being rescued. Her incredible story serves as the emotional core of the film, which will also spotlight the heroic first responders who risked their lives in a grueling search-and-rescue mission. The events led to groundbreaking changes in avalanche forecasting and ski resort safety protocols worldwide.

“Jared and Steven crafted an extraordinary documentary,” said Emmett. “That film, along with Jennifer’s phenomenal book, had a powerful impact on me. I was struck not only by the immense scale of the events but also by the deeply personal and emotional weight carried by those who lived it.”
