A young girl that was allegedly stabbed to death by her mother on July 9 has been identified as 10-year-old Quesi Chavez, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram. Chavez's mother then reportedly stabbed herself. (See map after the jump)

The stabbing occurred on the Fort MacArthur Military Housing Facility in San Pedro. Authorities found Chavez and her mother with stab wounds around 2:30 a.m. Both were rushed to the local hospital where Chavez later died of her injuries. The mother survived her self-inflicted stab wounds, according to authorities.

Police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide, according to the Press-Telegram. Anyone with information on the stabbing is urged to call Detectives from the LAPD Juvenile Division's Abused Child Section at (877) 527-3247.
