Ya never know what you’re in for when actress/singer/performance artist/whatever Ann Magnuson, veteran of those cheery groups Bleaker Street Incident and Vulcan Death Grip, hits the mat. This week, Magnuson’s joined by equally “spontaneous” singer/actor Adam Dugas in a “darkly elegant” night of music with a theatrical flourish that also features harpists Alexander Rannie and Mia Theodoratus and the puppet theater of Robin Walsh. If the presidential debates have been boring the crap out of you, tune in to what they’re calling a “twisted match of musical one-upmanship” for some real fireworks. At REDCAT, Fri.-Sat., Oct. 17-18, 8:30 p.m.; $16-$20, student discounts available. (213) 237-2800, www.redcat.org. Fridays, Saturdays, 8:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 17. Continues through Oct. 18, 2008
