Deadly Pedestrian Collision on 57 Freeway

BREA, CA (August 24, 2021) An unidentified pedestrian died tragically Monday morning after a fatal crash on 57 Freeway in Brea.

The accident occurred around 5 a.m. on the 57 Freeway near Lambert Road, just before Imperial Highway, on August 23.

According to the California Highway Patrol, an unknown vehicle struck and killed a person on the freeway under unknown circumstances.

Responding officers stated that it is unclear what the pedestrian was doing on the freeway lanes at that time.

At this time, the CHP refused to release the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.

Furthermore, officials closed the southbound 57 Freeway for cleanup and inspection, but it reopened around 9:00 a.m.

Brea Police are conducting further information to determine the cause and events leading up to the incident.
