If you heard a faint rumbling in the distance earlier this afternoon, like a million blast beats and drop-D power chords, then you heard the sound of metal fans all over SoCal freaking the fuck out. Because for the first time, two of the biggest festivals in metal, Ozzfest and Knotfest, are joining forces for a single weekend of mayhem.
The joint festival was announced at a press conference today at the Hollywood Palladium. The gossip mags were more busy freaking the fuck out over estranged couple Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne awkwardly sharing the stage together to make the announcement, but metal fans were rightly far more excited at the prospect of seeing Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Disturbed, Amon Amarth, Trivium and Opeth all in a single weekend. Here were some of our favorite tweets in response to the announcement:
Ozzfest meets Knotfest! Human sacrifice 2016
— Lou Brutus (@LouBrutus) May 12Also, we're glad to see Slipknot donned their masks for the press conference.
#OzzfestMeetsKnotfest TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY!
