It's only been a week since we returned from the deafening, drunken mayhem that was SXSW but that didn't keep us from spending our weekend cruising the concert circuit here in L.A. We'll sleep when we're dead (or when they cut off our bar tab). In addition to live performances by John Mayer, Tom Morello, Slash, Lemmy Kilmister, Eugene Hutz, Wayne Kramer, Shooter Jennings, Sen Dog and more, this weekend we checked out Lucha VaVoom's new pirate-themed stage show, the Girlie Girl Catfight, and stopped by the opening of artist Chris Anderson's exhibit, “Venice,” at the Corey Helford Gallery. Read on for details…
Randall Roberts started his weekend early and joined Sensitive Man rocker John Mayer at the Thursday night launch party for the Mayercraft Carrier 2 cruise ship. Roberts described the party as a “night of drink, food, music and orgasmic women screaming “I LOVE YOU JOHN” in unison.” The cruise hit the high seas on Friday for five days of what we can safely assume will be more of the above. Read Roberts' full report, “All Aboard John Mayer's Mayercraft Carrier 2: Jordin Sparks, Sara Bereilles, Gavin Rossdale, OAR, Guster (and the Mayer Himself).”
We went backstage and in the pit at the Justice Tour on Saturday night which featured performances by Tom Morello, Slash, Corey Taylor, Lemmy Kilmister, Jerry Cantrell, Eugene Hutz, Wayne Kramer, Shooter Jennings, Sen Dog and more. Read Siran Babayan's review of the show here and check out the photos in Timothy Norris' slideshow.
Timothy Norris saw plenty of girl-brawling action when Lucha VaVoom presented the Girlie Girl Catfight at the El Rey on Friday night. Check out the entire slideshow here.
