Happy hours are getting better. Not necessarily cheaper. But the trend toward extending days and hours, and cutting back on alliterations (I mean you, Margarita Mondays!) is definitely some kind of progress. Right?
Monday through Friday from 4-6:00 p.m., comme Ça offers a new “Défaire” menu, inspired by the traditional French businessmen's break. Small plates for $7, oysters are $2 each and seven “aphrodisiac” themed cocktails are available for $7. Sample a “Cuba Liberato” (white rum, ginger, lime, egg white, Coca Cola), or a “Live to Love” (cachaca, St Germaine Elderflower liqueur, raspberry and champagne) and mange tartares (steak or salmon), tarte flambee, crab cake, shrimp cocktail, croque monsieur, snapper escabeche and a fromage de jour. You'll feel very Don Draper, only French.
Or between 4-6:00 p.m Sunday through Thursday, stop by Cecconi's for “Pizzette on the Patio”. Sip on a glass of prosecco and nibble on a petite version of one of the restaurant's signature pizza selections for $12. Combinations include buffalo mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes, homemade sausage and roasted red pepper, spicy salami and mushroom or prosciutto with arugula and Parmesan.
If you happen to be downtown on Thursday or Friday, say between 7 and 10p.m, Katsuya has a new happy hour drink special: your second cocktail is only $1. Or if you get there after 10, there're food specials on staples like rock shrimp tempura and crispy rice with spicy tuna and new additions like ceviche tacos and honey-yuzu walnut shrimp, all between $8-9.
