MATTHEWDAVID Outmind [Brainfeeder, April 19] The Brainfeeder mainstay is a prolific composer, producer and collage artist. His upcoming release bounces between genres to occupy an ethereal space swollen with layers of sound that morph into melodic fragments, and beats that twist and bloom into subtle, pulsing suggestions. Vocalist Niki Randa and, of course, Flying Lotus are guests on this record. Dreamy, hazy, delicate and understated.
LES NUBIANS Nü Revolution [Shanachie, April 19] With a breezy blend of soul-braised, summer-ripe jams, Parisian sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart continue to cement their international appeal with their third album. The duo, who spent a chunk of their childhood in Chad, are just as much at home in the Bobby McFerrin–influenced, vocally percussive “Je M'en Occupe” as in the poppy soul of the Michael Jackson–riffed title track. We're chilling a pitcher of sangria and planning our first backyard barbecue of the summer to this.
[Mad Decent, out now] We spotted these guys in an unlikely place: a German government-sponsored sampler introducing new Kraut sounds to the SXSW crowd. Everything else on the sampler was (yeah, we know) polite, precise, and anal. The Schlachthofbronx track was not. Track this down: mental bass plus clever use of cumbia and other earthier sounds. If you like the M.I.A. vibe but find good ole Maya herself slightly annoying, this is your jam.

No Help Coming [Transdreamer, April 26] Another batch of bluesy, country-influenced rock by the former Thee Headcoatee (and White Stripes associate). The British have a penchant for artfully deconstructing and then reconfiguring American musical forms, and this album squarely fits in with that tradition. R&B classics like “Here Lies My Love” are matched with originals like “River of Tears” — songs with the kinds of shuffling, loping percussion and 1-2-3 tempos that make you think of a crackling campfire somewhere in the rural South as horses snort and cows flick their tails in the background.
