A 22-year-old man was shot to death August 26 after a neighborhood dispute in South Los Angeles.
According to police reports, Ronnie Knighten Jr. and two of his friends were shot after getting into an argument with a group of men outside an apartment complex on 95th and Main streets. Knighten Jr., who was hit twice, was able to make it to the front of the apartment before he collapsed around 11 p.m. He was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries several hours later. His friends were also taken to the hospital but are expected to survive.
Shortly after the shooting, police arrested 41-year-old Edward Olden. He was charged today with the murder of Knighten Jr. and the attempted murder of Knighten's two friends. Police say the victims were in the dispute with Olden's minor son, who is an alleged gang member. Anyone with information should contact Southeast Division detectives at (213) 485-4341.
