A 43-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in front of her grown children following a parking-related dispute, and two suspects now face murder charges, Whitter police said.

The victim's teary-eyed son, Daniel Crable, told reporters his mother's throat was slashed and that he tried to give her CPR, not realizing she was probably dead before she hit the ground.

Suspects, 22-year-old Reggie Cervantes and 19-year-old Brenda Rangel, were each charged by the L.A. County District Attorney's office with suspicion of murder, cops said.

The attack happened about 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet, 13963 Alondra Boulevard, said Whittier police, who patrol the area.

The swap meet stays open until 11 on Fridays and features bands, its website says. According to a police statement:

When officers arrived they located a female victim lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds to her neck and back. Officers immediately administered medical aid to the 43-yr-old victim but she later died at UCI Medical Center.

The victim was identified as Elizabeth Yanez.

Her son and daughter, both in their early 20s, told reporters that they were all in a car that accidentally went the wrong way down a parking aisle. Someone was blocking the aisle with their vehicle, and the dispute centered around who should back up, they said.

They said that, as the parties were arguing outside the vehicles, a knife came out quickly and a suspect slashed Yanez's throat with shocking speed.

Police said that “crucial evidence” found at the scene quickly led them to Cervantes and Rangel in South Los Angeles.

The two were each being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
