The Lake and the Stars is a U.S. lingerie company whose most recent ad campaign features an older mother (MILF material if you ask me) and her 19-year-old daughter posing together like pale-skinned dolls wearing little more than garters and sheer lace underthings.

Co-owners Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman said they chose the duo, who apparently are their neighbors in Brooklyn, because of their loving kinship and the desire to “poke fun” at the traditional psychology behind women's relationships with each other.

Methinks there's more to it than sociological commentary, as the ads have stirred much debate (especially in the FOX News department) as to how far a small business must go in order to attract attention.

Over-the-top commentators on America's favorite 24-hour “news” channel called the ad campaign “disgusting,” deeming the mother and daughter's physical closeness as incestuous and inappropriate.

Upon further analysis (being sure not to get distracted by the beauty of both women) their mutual mannerisms are nothing beyond family-style. A hug; lying awkwardly presumably to show off the ensembles; uncomfortably – side by side; standing in the same room.

No scissoring, no kissing, no deep longing gazes into each other's eyes. Where's the incest, guys? Your headlines are disappointing Internet creepers as we speak.

“A lot of the themes that we're dealing with are about psychology between women as they're growing up and dealing with family politics or women in the workplace,” Zilberman told The Huffington Post. “We always poke fun at these ideas that people take really seriously, but we're trying to make it so that people can talk about it and have a sense of humor about it.”

There seems to be more complaining than chuckling about this campaign, but hey – if it sells undies, it's doing its job. Carry on.
