Sherman Oaks resident, CC Perkinson was crowned Miss Cougar 2010 Del Mar over the weekend , receiving over 1,600 votes via Twitter, online, and via texting.

“You can learn from the older, you can learn from the younger and you can have such a great time, and that's what this is about,” Perkinson told NBC Los Angeles.

The event was held at the Del Mar Racetrack, where 24 cougars gathered to compete for the title.

According to the winner herself, a cougar is a woman 40 years old or over and dates men at least eight years younger.

Perkinson, a 42-year old Texas native, was a Del Mar horse jockey from 1998 to 2005. According to the La Jolla Light, Perkinson entered the race to inspire women to embrace younger men that love older, established and well-balanced women.

“I feel that I can go up against any younger woman (kitten) in the game of love and war!” she states on the official Miss Cougar 2010 websites. “Confidence is not a factor for me!”
